Japan Airlines & Japan’s National Tourism Organization
WHERE DREAMS GO
With a global pandemic nearing its end, Japan Airlines was looking for a unique brand campaign to announce that Japan would soon be open to visitors. We tapped into a powerful human truth: that the dream of travel - the anticipation, the planning - are often the best parts of the trip. We brought this insight to life with help of artist Yuhki Demers of Into the Spiderverse to create a literal “dream trip”, not a plane to be seen. The animated campaign colorfully highlights famous scenes throughout Japan with a splash of romance and surrealism, because Japan is Where Dreams Go.
AN IMMERSIVE SITE EXPERIENCE
We created a website where instead of scrolling down the page, users could fly through it. Interactive animations allowed users to fly to different locations highlighted in the campaign, capturing the magical feeling of being inside a dream.
A DREAMSCAPE CRAFTED BY THE PERFECT STORYTELLER
We partnered with Academy Award-winning animator Yuhki Demers, a Japanese-American who grew up flying Japan Airlines to visit family each summer.
“Working on this project meant a lot for me and especially for my mother.
My mom first came to the United States from Japan as a high school exchange student. She always visited her family in Japan flying Japan Airlines, so this project made her proud”
